May '09 Reading Log

This month, I did a lot of reading in my spare time. I had bought 2 books by Marian Keyes awhile ago, and finally got around to reading them. They're funny and entertaining reads! =)

I read:
  • The Other Side of the Story
  • Anybody Out There

I will be starting another novel soon... will probably be switching gears to read something with a more serious mood. You need a little change once in awhile. =)

Ferritin

Normal range (females): ~15-150 ng/mL

When I got my blood tested about two months ago, the results showed that I had low iron (5 ng/mL)... so I had to take supplements. After two months, I had my blood checked again. The doctor gave me the results today, and I'm back in the normal range (21 ng/mL)! Yay for me. Now to just keep it up...

Again

I saw that fab-ish guy from the bookstore again! Today, I was walking through Queen's Park, and we passed each other, doing the little "hi" thing. What are the odds? I've now seen this stranger 4 of days in the week. The weird part is that going up St. George or walking across Queen's Park weren't part of my original plans... they were "last minute decisions". It must have been fate for this guy to make my week more interesting.....
-__-;; I hope he doesn't think I'm stalking him or something. Haha!

After I got home in the afternoon, I waited for my parents to come home and drive me to the doctor's. It's been about 2 months since I got my last blood results, so it was time for me to go and get another test, as ordered. My doctor got me the form, and off I went to get the blood test done again. Next week, the results will be in, and we'll see what happens.

Customers

Working in retail, customer service is important, and you need to be friendly, helpful... and all of that good stuff. But sometimes, you get customers who are stupid AND bitchy. If I'm still smiling, that's probably just my fake customer service face. I may be laughing inside because you think I actually care. I don't know you, and you don't know me. If you're not nice or at least polite to me, how would I be nice to you? There's no need to take out your anger/frustration on us... we're not here to fix all your problems for you. Anyway, I wouldn't go into detail about these people. Everyone's heard stories already.

Sometimes, you get customers who are friendly even when things aren't working out the way they want. That's cool. You're doing us a favour, and we'll listen and help you out if we can. It's nice to encounter these people. :)

So on Monday, while working at the bookstore, this guy came to buy some books for his course(s). He first tried paying with a credit card, and it got declined. Surprised, he left the books and said he'll come back later. He came back later with a debit card, tried again, and it didn't work. Disappointed, he said he'll try again later on, so I put the books behind the cash station. The next day, I was working at the same cash counter. He came back and asked if I remembered him and if we still had his books. Since he was a funny and friendly fellow, I remembered, and luckily for him, his books weren't put back onto the shelf yet, so I brought them to him. He said, "This time I brought CASH!". lol! He paid for his books and happily left. Then today after work, as I was walking up St. George, I saw him again! It's kinda funny, because we actually recognized each other. His eyes widened, he smiled this teethy smile, and we said hi. This guy is funny and like, fabulous! It's awesome, seeing this stranger 3 days in a row. He probably made my week.
