Rabbit Year

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! 恭喜發財! 新年快樂! 兔年行好運! ETC...

Year of the RABBIT! YAY! Wow, I'm getting old... but ANYWAY!

This year, I'm spending CNY in Kingston, since there are classes and it's the middle of the week (kinda). Yesterday and today were PD Days for us Teacher Candidates. Busy-ish, but we still had fun outside of 'school'. =)

Yesterday, there was a "snow storm", and schools closed down in a lot of places, but the programs here still went on. Damn, missed out on a SNOW DAY in Toronto! Fortunately for me, I got a ride from a friend to school, so I didn't have to deal with trudging through high, unshovelled snow. Hmm... it was also Groundhog Day yesterday, but I guess the groundhog got totally shafted this year. Hahah! Anyway, I sat through the PD presentations with some friends, had lunch with them, and the day went by alright. Afterwards, we went to the Queen's Bookstore to try and buy $1 scarves, but they were sold out by the time we got there. =( Our next stops were to buy food and drinks in the downtown area in preparation for the potluck we were having in the evening. It was somewhat of a CNY celebration, and one of our stops was to a small Chinese supermarket. There, some of my non-Chinese friends started busting out the cantonese and mandarin that they were learning. Haha =) We also saw something interesting...

WTF?! LOL!

Yah, so that was pretty funny, and I had to take a picture of it. XD Anyway, we had our CNY potluck that night and it was nice! We had some Chinese-y foods, took some silly (and serious) group photos and sang songs that most people knew the words to! =) We had a lot of fun! =)

Today was another PD Day for us. The day started off kinda sad for me, as I discovered that I had left my library printing card in one of the photocopiers yesterday... and I did not have my name on it. So I wasn't able to get it back. Although it only had like a few cents left on it, this sucks. =( Anyway, I'd signed up for today's workshops with a friend, so we went to them together. I was pretty tired to begin with, but by the end of it all, I was even more tired. But I walked home, rested up a bit, and then went back to DMH for the 'Related Careers for Teachers' presentation. Then, I walked home again. And now, I'm here...!

Unfortunately, this year, I won't be celebrating with family on the actual day of CNY, but I think we'll make up for it when I go back to Toronto in about a week. =) My dad sent me an e-mail, and it was pretty awesome. =P He'd scanned the front and back of a lucky pocket (red envelope) and sent the pdf of it to me. And he told me I can get it when I get back home. Awww.

I hope this year is awesome! =)
