Woke up to play a non-serious softball game at around noon, and it was good practice. But lucky me... (or just clumsy me >_<;;) I ended up injuring myself and having to get stitches. =( I don't even remember exactly what happened, because it happened so fast and unexpectedly. I was up at bat. I'd hit the ball and started to run... then it was a combination of losing balance, slipping, tripping, falling, and my shoes being old and crappy ... *bam* - right knee lands hard onto (most likely) the edge of the home plate. My arm went down too, but that was super minor... Just brushed off some sand and it was okay. What an epic fall. Hah. I was obviously out at that point, so I got up to walk back out to my team. I didn't even notice the severity of what happened until then, while I was brushing sand and dust off my knees. My friend noticed it at the same time... a nasty-looking gash about 2 inches long and 5 mm deep... looked like an eye. It was disgusting. I didn't even want to look at it for long. I sat down, we washed it off, and very soon, a guy came cycling over with his first aid kit. He started cleaning the wound and doing stuff to it (painful, but not as much as I expected it to be, because my whole knee was pretty numb at that point), but quickly went off again to grab some other things he forgot to bring. Joyce stayed with me, but pretty much everyone else went to continue the game. I'm not too sure what happened to me after, but maybe because it was the intense heat of the day, or me not having enough sugars in me, or I was just too freaked out... I started to feel dizzy and stuff. I knew I was gonna faint, so I warned Joyce. lol. I felt the world becoming distant, and felt blood rushing out of my head. It was weird. Then apparently, I fainted for a bit onto her. Then after I was laid down, I started to wake up... and like everyone was around me. lol. I drank some water, and started to feel better. Then I got carried to a bench in a shady area, and waited for the first aid guy to come back while the others continued to finish the game. Stephen gave me a granola bar, and I ate that to get some energy in me. Joyce and some of the other guys stayed with me throughout after... just coming back and forth in between plays. The guy came back to clean and fix me up, and got a few of us some freezies after too. Hehe. So that was basically what happened at the field. Because I didn't have my health card with me, I called mom/dad to tell them to go home and get it for me. Luckily, they weren't too freaked out (I think). After the game was over, a few of the guys carried me over to Redford's car, and he drove me to meet my parents at this medical walk-in clinic to get my wound looked at and stitched up. When we got there, we discovered that the place was closed early because it was Saturday. So we had to go to the hospital - Scarborough Grace. My parents took me there, and after waiting for about 2 hours in total (a relatively short wait), I got stitched up by the doctor. I was laid down when he did the stitching, so I didn't see anything, but I felt some of the poking and most of the pulling. My knee was numbed by freezing, but it still felt weird and kinda painful. =( It was done in about 5 minutes, and a nurse came and bandaged me up afterwards. I also got a tetanus shot, because I didn't remember when the last time I got it was (now I know I'm good for the next 10 years. lol). After the bandaging up, I was good to go. So that's it. I started off practicing at a softball game (which we won, btw), and in the end, I got 6 stitches on my right knee. My first stitches ever.
